Sain Associates is proud to announce that our President and CEO, Jim Meads, P.E., has been inducted into the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) College of Fellows. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the engineering profession and to ACEC through their leadership, service, and dedication to advancing the industry.

Jim was recognized during the 2025 Fellows Induction Ceremony at the ACEC Fall Conference in San Diego, California.
With more than 35 years of experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning and design, Jim has dedicated his career to improving communities across the eastern United States. Since joining Sain Associates in 1993 and becoming President/CEO in 2010, Jim has led the firm with integrity, technical excellence, and a deep commitment to employee development and ethical practice.
His leadership extends far beyond the company. Jim has been a longtime advocate for the consulting engineering profession through his active involvement with ACEC at both the state and national levels. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including:
- President, ACEC Alabama (2018–2019)
- National Director, ACEC Alabama (2022–2024)
- Chair, ACEC Alabama Transportation Committee (2007–2016)
- Member, ACEC National Transportation and Membership Committees
Jim’s commitment to ACEC and the broader engineering community reflects his passion for collaboration, innovation, and advocacy. His efforts have strengthened Alabama’s consulting engineering community and elevated the profession nationally.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jim has been a leader in his community, serving as Vice Chair of the City of Trussville Planning and Zoning Board, a Trussville Rotary Club member, and a mentor and ethics instructor for young engineers. He has also supported organizations such as Designs for Hope and the Hewitt-Trussville High School Engineering Academy.
