Some individuals quietly dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to making our community a better place. Erin Curry, P.E., RSP, a Senior Project Manager and Associate at Sain Associates, is someone whose impact can be felt across her community’s schools, local government, and organizations.
On November 5, she was honored by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee (ACEC Tennessee) by receiving the inaugural 2024 ACEC Community Service Award. This prestigious recognition highlights her outstanding contributions to Giles County through her roles in local government, education, and community organizations. Erin’s dedication to service, mentorship, and community well-being have made her a true champion for Giles County, as well as the state of Tennessee.
A Lifelong Dedication
Erin’s journey began with a love for engineering, inspired by a high school teacher who encouraged her to pursue a career that would make a real difference. Today, as a civil engineer, she sees her work as an extension of her community service—working towards safer roads and infrastructure. But Erin’s commitment to Giles County goes far beyond engineering.
By recently co-founding Volunteers for G.C. Schools, Erin helped pass a referendum to give more money to Giles County schools to help ensure that every teacher and student have the support they need to succeed. Serving as a mentor with tnAchieves has also been meaningful for her, and she has worked to guide students for nearly a decade by helping them make choices for their future.
A Leader in Local Government
Erin was elected Commissioner of District 1 for Giles County in 2018, and since then, she has worked on several projects that have focused on making communities thrive. Her four-year role as chair of the Budget Committee has given her a platform to lead community progress and fiscal responsibility. From streamlining budget processes to ensuring the census count in the county, Erin’s leadership has been felt in tangible ways across the county. Serving on the Pulaski Board of Zoning Appeals and the Pulaski Tree Board have given her a platform to advocate for sustainability and responsible growth.
Supporting Giles County through Service
Erin’s contributions also extend to Giles Country’s cultural and service organizations. She has served as a volunteer with the Giles County Chamber, the Friends of the Library, and Wolf Gap — roles that reflect her commitment to the county’s cultural and social fabric. Erin also serves on the fundraising committee for The Shelter, the local women and children’s shelter. Whether promoting literacy or helping with community arts, Erin brings a spirit of compassion to everything she does.
From her work here at Sain to her service on county committees, Erin Curry exemplifies what it means to serve with integrity and heart. We are incredibly proud of Erin for her recognition through ACEC Tennessee and her nomination for a national award, honoring her impactful contributions to her community.
