2026 Leadership and Ownership Advancements

We are proud to share exciting updates on our firm’s ongoing leadership and ownership evolution. These changes reflect our continued commitment to developing internal talent and strengthening the depth of our leadership team to better serve our clients and communities. Sain is a 3rd generation employee-owned firm, and we are currently working on our 4th generation.

Michael Thomas, PLS — Named Associate and Shareholder

We are pleased to announce that Michael Thomas, PLS, has been named an Associate Shareholder of Sain Associates.

Michael has more than 25 years of professional surveying experience and currently serves as Survey Director. In that capacity, he oversees both field and office survey personnel and provides technical leadership across a wide range of land surveying services. Michael’s extensive experience includes residential and commercial projects, construction staking and stakeout, roadway grading, ALTA/NSPS and topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and right-of-way and easement surveys. He is also deeply involved in project-level field management, title and utility research, preparing legal descriptions, survey plat development, and office administration.

We are proud to recognize his contributions and look forward to his continued impact as part of Sain’s ownership group.

Nathan Currie, P.E. — Promoted to Principal Shareholder

In addition, Nathan Currie, P.E., has been promoted from Associate Shareholder to Principal Shareholder, a role that reflects his deep technical expertise and strategic leadership.

Nathan serves as Assistant Director of Transportation Design & Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) at Sain. With 17 years of civil and transportation engineering experience, he has worked with state and county departments of transportation, municipalities, and private developers on a wide variety of infrastructure projects. His expertise includes the design of roadways and multi-use paths, roundabouts, intersection and interchange improvements, drainage systems, and stormwater management facilities. Nathan is also experienced in ADA transition planning and compliance, bringing valuable insights on accessibility issues within public rights-of-way.

Nathan’s approach to leadership emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and mentorship. As a seasoned project manager and team leader, he has guided complex transportation design efforts from planning through construction, always with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.

These advancements represent meaningful steps in our firm’s strategic ownership transition and highlight Sain’s dedication to fostering leadership from within. Michael and Nathan’s achievements reflect not only professional excellence but also their embodiment of Sain’s core values — integrity, reliability, humility, and loyalty.
