FUNDING: Sweet Trails Alabama Initiative

Sain is providing professional planning, engineering, and public engagement services for the Sweet Trails Alabama initiative. Sweet Trails Alabama is a statewide effort to develop a connected trail network linking all 67 counties and major destinations across the state. As part of this effort, our team is supporting a feasibility study for a proposed trail connection between Birmingham and Anniston.
The study is evaluating potential trail corridors, technical considerations, and implementation opportunities to help guide future development of the route. Key considerations include topography, property ownership, existing bridges and culverts, environmental factors, construction cost, existing plans, bicycle and pedestrian activity, and connections to points of interest along the proposed corridors. Public involvement is a key component of the effort, and community feedback is being collected to help shape recommendations and identify priorities for the project.
Public involvement is an important part of the planning process. Community feedback is helping identify priorities, evaluate potential corridors, and shape recommendations for the future trail connection.
