Sain Associates provided traffic engineering services for Project Bowtie in Gallatin, Tennessee. The assignment involved preparation of a Traffic Impact Study for a proposed industrial development located on the south side of the intersection of Airport Road and Jamison Drive. The approximately 19.8-acre undeveloped site was proposed for industrial manufacturing facilities, with analysis focused on six surrounding intersections within the study area.
The project included field reviews, traffic volume counts, and analysis of existing and future traffic operations associated with the proposed development. Sain evaluated anticipated trip generation, traffic distribution, phased development impacts, and turn-lane needs, and developed recommendations for roadway improvements to support future traffic conditions. The results of the study were documented in a final report prepared for City review and planning purposes.
Following the initial study, Sain was retained to evaluate updates to the proposed development and determine their impacts on the previously completed traffic analysis. The update included: review of revised site conditions, evaluation of whether an eastbound right-turn lane was still needed, and recommendations for the appropriate access geometry. Sain summarized the findings and recommendations in a memorandum.
