In 2015, Sain Associates performed overall civil engineering and consulting for a $63 million expansion to the existing Gestamp facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This included heavy site engineering, traffic engineering, landscape design, roadway improvements, permitting, and construction-related services.
The project involved designing and constructing a 272,000 SF expansion of the existing stamping facility on Hickory Valley Road and a 196,500 SF new stamping facility located in the Enterprise South Industrial Park.
This project was designed to comply with the City Stormwater Ordinance, which required that the post-development hydrology mimic the pre-development hydrology for storm up to the 25-year design storm, as well as providing water quality treatment. This was accomplished using bioswales and master-planned detention areas.
At the end of 2020, Hoar Construction was awarded a design-build project for the Phase II expansion at the Gestamp facility. Sain was selected to be part of the design team and provided civil/site design services, including layout plans, demolition plans, grading and storm drainage plans, utility plans, erosion and sedimentation control plans, and sections and details. The Phase II expansion was delivered on a fast-track schedule.
