This Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP)–funded project along 15th Street in Anniston, Alabama involved the removal of existing sidewalks and the construction of new sidewalks designed to meet current ADA standards. Retrofitting ADA-compliant facilities within older urban corridors often presents unique challenges, and this project required creative design solutions to address constraints along existing building frontages.
Additional complexities included right-of-way limitations and environmental considerations, which necessitated adjustments to both the design and project scope, including modifications to sidewalk alignment in certain areas.
Sain Associates worked closely with the City of Anniston and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to develop the design plans and also provided construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services throughout project construction.
