Homewood ADA Plan

Homewood, AL

CLIENT: City of Homewood

Sain Associates was contracted to develop an ADA Transition Plan for the City of Homewood focusing specifically on pedestrian elements located within public right-of-way. Our scope of services for this project was separated into 4 primary tasks:

  1. Inventory of Physical Barriers
  2. Draft Transition Plan – Strategy, Prioritization, and Schedule for Upgrades
  3. Public Involvement
  4. Finalize Transition Plan

We performed an inventory of Homewood’s current pedestrian elements with the public ROW in order to identify those elements which are not in compliance with current ADA requirements. We then analyzed the City’s overall condition to develop a prioritization plan and assisted City officials in setting goals for upgrading the City’s facilities.

While preparing the draft Plan we sought input from individuals and organizations that interact with disabled citizens. The feedback received was considered and incorporated into the transition plan document. Upon completion of the draft plan, we presented an overview to the City Council to present the draft plan for future public comment.
