This summer, Sain welcomes three student interns to the team. A college internship provides a well-rounded learning environment that enhances classroom education with hands-on experience. Our summer interns obtain valuable experience working on real projects for Sain’s private and public clients.
Meet Nick Redwine. He is a senior at Ole Miss majoring in Civil Engineering. We sat down with Nick and asked him a few questions about his internship so far and what he plans to do after the summer.
Why did you want to intern at Sain?
I really wanted an internship experience that would expose me to several disciplines of civil engineering. As a consulting engineering firm, Sain was the perfect option as they have projects that include practically every aspect of civil engineering.
What lessons have you learned during your internship?
- Do not be afraid to ask questions. Everyone in the office has been in your position before and does not expect you to know how to perform every assignment immediately.
- As an engineer, you will have to be a lifelong learner as technology and industry advance.
- Excellent communication is key for the success of any project, especially those whose scope of work involves multiple teams.
What are your plans after interning at Sain?
I plan to return to Ole Miss and finish my last three semesters there. Afterward, I will enter the exciting and growing civil engineering workforce.
What advice do you have for prospective interns?
Ask other team members and leaders about their previous experiences. Often, they have faced decisions, challenges, or experiences that you see or will see. The workplace culture is very inviting and encouraging, so the members of Sain are always happy to sit down and talk with you.
