Sain Associates had a good year in 2023, marked by continued growth and diversification of our business, notable projects, and the addition of talented team members. We owe our success to our remarkable clients and staff who have been instrumental in the achievement of our goals. The most exciting highlight of the year was the expansion of our company’s footprint in the Auburn and Mobile regions, which created new opportunities and provided us with a chance to better serve those communities.
Other highlights included:
- Jack Kimbrough, Jr., P.E., was announced as Huntsville Branch Manager in November. Jack succeeded Harry Wilson, P.E., who has transitioned into a role where he is focusing his time on general business development and strengthening Sain’s airport market sector team.
- Michael Thomas, PLS, was promoted to Survey Team Leader, and Nathan Currie, P.E., was promoted to Infrastructure Team Leader.
- Several other employees celebrated promotions, certifications, and other professional registrations.
- GIS Manager Dan Mellott, GISP, was presented with the 6th annual Spirit of Lauren Award.
- Our Marketing team launched Sain’s updated website.
- It was an award-winning year at Sain. 2023 awards included:

- Our staff was involved in numerous community and professional organizations.
- We continued to expand our work for municipalities, counties, and DOTs with new projects in Irondale, Trussville, Auburn, Opelika, Prattville, Vestavia, Madison, Hartselle, Alabaster, Morris, Jasper, Huntsville, Birmingham, Anniston, Mountain Brook, Phenix City, St. Clair County, Calhoun County, Autauga County, Elmore County, Shelby County, and other cities/counties.
- The Industrial Economic Development market continued to be a bright spot for us in 2023, which included work with Jefferson County Economic and Industrial Development Authority, Central Alabama Electric Cooperative, DF Chase, Freedom Real Estate, Dunn Building Company, ARCO, Doster, and others.
- We assisted our clients in pursuing grant projects, including SEEDS, SS4A, TAP, Industrial Access Road, EDA, and ATRIP II.

Looking ahead to 2024, we are filled with hope and positivity. We are proud of the way in which we have diversified our business, making us more resilient to sudden changes in the market. Our leadership team is strong and capable, providing us with the guidance needed to succeed. Furthermore, we are committed to growing our various disciplines and preserving our company culture. We are working on developing our fourth generation of ownership, and we have a bright future ahead.
