2020 Fish Fry Becomes Help for the Helpers

For each of the past eight years, Sain has hosted a fish fry lunch for clients and friends. We’ve enjoyed those events so much because they allow us to show appreciation to those in our network who contribute to our success. It’s our annual “thank you” event.

With the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking a cautious approach and will not host a fish fry this fall. But we still want to say thank you.

In honor of our clients and friends, our owners have made donations to five charities that are working hard to help people in need. These non-profit organizations work with people locally, regionally, and worldwide to provide services to address physical and spiritual needs.

Founded in 1940, Brother Bryan Mission is the oldest rescue mission in Birmingham. BBM offers addiction recovery and work programs to help men rise out of homelessness and poverty and return to family, church and community. The mission operates two residential programs: New Life Fellowship and Exodus. BBM is named for The Reverend James Alexander Bryan whose tireless work with homeless men inspired the founding of the mission.

Urban Purpose is focused on serving the needs of men, women, and children in Birmingham through meals, job training, addiction recovery, and housing. The Compound is an outreach center located on 2nd Avenue N that provides gathering space so volunteers can build relationships with men and women needing assistance.

Sowing Seeds of Hope was founded in 2000 with a vision to improve health outcomes and quality of life for citizens in Perry County, one of the poorest counties in Alabama and an anchor in Alabama’s Black Belt region. Recognized by the US Congress and Human Rights Watch for its pioneering work, Sowing Seeds of Hope provides health education and screening, literacy support, food, clothing, a summer day camp for children, and other needed services.

Ashville Community Mission serves St. Clair County by providing non-perishable food for people in need. ACM strives to meet both physical and spiritual needs, which often includes a caring and listening ear. Non-perishable foods are provided from ACM’s food pantry, and vouchers are distributed for perishable food that ACM does not keep on hand. In addition to food distribution, ACM helps provide clothing and gifts to needy families at Christmas.

Founded by engineers and other technical people, Designs for Hope’s mission is to design and deliver innovative solutions to the physical and spiritual needs of disciple makers around the world. Designs for Hope works through local churches to execute projects that provide clean water, electricity, and other infrastructure to impoverished communities. Sain supported a Designs for Hope project in March by assembling 22 solar cube units

There are so many non-profit organizations doing important work to serve and support people. We salute all of them for their dedication and say thank you for your service!
