Jake Balentine is a Traffic Designer at Sain. He works on projects involving safety analysis, traffic impact studies, and traffic signal retiming. He enjoys working at Sain because of its family oriented environment, and how Sain pushes its employees to focus on both ethics and quality in their work.

Jake’s favorite project has been the Horizontal Curve project for ALDOT, where hundreds of roadway segments across the northern half of Alabama were studied in order to reduce crashes.

In a Q&A session we got to know Jake a little better…

Q: Tell us a little about yourself.

A: I grew up in Rogersville, AL and graduated from college with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  I began working in Sain’s Pulaski, TN office in 2014 as a member of their Infrastructure team and moved to Birmingham in early 2016 to be a part of the Traffic team.  I have worked for Sain for the past 3.5 years.  I am a member of The Church at Brook Hills.

Q: Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us? 

A: I don’t like sweet tea!

Q: What did you want to be when growing up? 

A: As a kid, I wanted to be either a professional bass fisherman or baseball player.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time? 

A: Hunting, fishing, all sports, reading, and church activities

Q: What is your favorite sport? Team? 

A: Baseball.  Go Braves! (and War Eagle!)
