We are excited to announce the acquisition of Vision Engineering & Planning, a transportation planning and engineering DBE firm with offices in Columbia, MD and Atlanta, GA.
Diane Hammonds, the Branch Manager for Sain’s Louisiana Office, will celebrate 15 years with Sain this month!
Along with being the Branch Manager, Diane serves on the leadership team. She loves the people she works with and says, “After 15 years, they are truly family to me.”
Diane learned about Sain when Jeff and Becky submitted a traffic impact study for review to the Louisiana Department of Transportation where Diane was working at the time. Becky, Jeff and Diane worked closely on the project together.
We sat down with Diane to learn a little bit more about her…
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: I just made 40! I am a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy High School in New Orleans and the University of New Orleans with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering. I am a Licensed PE and PTOE. I am also the current President of the Gulf Region Intelligent Transportation Society and Treasurer of WTS Louisiana Chapter.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your family.
A: I am a single mom of a smart and sassy 3-year-old, Grace. I am the youngest of 4 children. My closest sibling is 14 years older than me. My daughter is younger than most of my mother’s great grandchildren!
Q: Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us?
A: I am actually an introvert…
Q: What three words best describe you?
A: Direct, spirited, and loyal!
Q: What are your top life highlights?
A: Becoming a mom and passing the PE (Finally).
Q: What are your hopes for our industry?
A: My hope for the transportation industry is that we can adapt quickly to the changing needs in transportation. “Smart” cars are going to require infrastructure to support them. We know what those are (for the most part, as it is ever changing) but funding for these improvements is thin at best. We need to champion the cause going forward.
Q: What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
A: Helping the public and finding ways to improve traffic and therefore, life!
Q: What book did you read last?
A: The last book I read was The Testament by John Grisham. I am currently reading The Speed of Trust by Stephen M.R. Covey.
Q: What did you want to be when growing up?
A: A lawyer… I still do!
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: Anything with my girl!
Q: What is your favorite sport? Team?
A: I am a college football fan.
Q: What is your hidden talent?
A: I am a pretty good cake baker…the fun, pretty ones for kids’ birthday parties!
Thank you, Diane, for everything you do!
