Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) is a crucial aspect for every project in the engineering world. This is essentially making sure the building or infrastructure is being built according to the plans and specifications from the owner. Sain has been involved in numerous CE&I projects this summer with several of those centered in the Montgomery/Prattville area.

Currently, Sain is performing the CE&I for the City of Montgomery on a project making ADA ramp improvements followed by pavement improvements on approx. 2.5 miles of Wares Ferry Road.  This $1.9M construction project is 75 working days and is being built by DuBose Construction.  The bulk of the project will be done over the summer months while school is out, but some signal equipment will be ready for installation in October.

Nearby in Prattville, two Industrial Access Road projects had bid openings in June.  WS Newell won both projects for a combined $7.3M.  These two projects will construct 1.75 miles of new road and include a 216’ bridge over the CSX & Autauga railroads.  Sain designed both roadway projects and assisted the city in attaining two grants for up to $3.7M.  The construction will start in August and is expected to continue for one year.  Sain will perform CE&I to confirm the contractor follows the plans and ALDOT specifications.

We are also providing CE&I services for ALDOT on a signal system upgrade project we designed in Prattville. The project will implement new technology for nine existing traffic signals on Cobbs Ford Road and East Main Street just west of I-65. Traffic signal equipment will be upgraded at these intersections and a new centralized traffic signal performance monitoring technology known as Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPMs) will be deployed. ATSPMs is one of the innovations included in the Federal Highway Administration’s Every Day Counts program for 2017-2018. This is the first ATSPM project that will be delivered via the ALDOT project letting process.

As you can see, there are quite a few new, exciting projects in progress in the Montgomery/Prattville area! Stay tuned, as we will be sharing updates as each project continues.
