SR-21 Oxford

Sain prepared an Access Management Study for SR-21 in Oxford, AL, which became the basis for the proposed improvements for a design project. We prepared the survey, environmental document, traffic counts and analyses, traffic signal installation plans, and roadway design plans. There were challenges with this project since improvements needed to be made on both City and State roads. Sain handled all coordination with ALDOT and the City of Oxford, blending this project with an active design and construction project on Interstate 20 and its access ramps to SR-21. The project also involved coordination with stakeholders and property owners on changes to access and driveways. Drainage design was complex and impacted U.S. waters. Public hearings were held during the planning and design stages of the project. The project was let in September 2011 for $1.5 million.
