Working in association with developer General Growth Properties, Sain provided site engineering and transportation services for Kendall Town Center, a mixed-use development near Miami, FL. The project included roadway design with bike lanes, sidewalks, and roundabouts as well as extensive storm water retention ponds and a mass-transit station.
Sain prepared permit design plans for improvement of 17,500 linear feet of roadway. The improvements included widening an existing four-lane roadway to six lanes, widening an existing two-lane roadway to five lanes and widening an existing two-lane roadway to three lanes. We also designed 6,000 linear feet of new roads with bike lanes, sidewalks and two roundabouts.
The project also involved designing approximately 1.3 miles for the widening of a State-owned roadway from an existing four-lane to six lanes with curb, gutter and sidewalks. Services included planning, coordination of utilities, design of waterline relocation, permitting with multiple agencies (Florida Department of Transportation, Miami-Dade Public Works, and DERM), bidding and construction assistance.
In addition to the roadway work, Sain also designed and permitted storm water retention ponds within the + 120-acre Kendall Town Center commercial development. The ponds will be used as storm water management areas as well as a source for landscape irrigation for the development.
Sain designed a pumping station that was dedicated to the Miami-Dade County Public Works and a mass-transit station that was dedicated to the Miami-Dade County Transit Authority.
