We’ve done numerous projects at Redstone Arsenal in the past, and we are excited to announce that we’re now the engineers for Von Braun IV.
This is the fourth phase of the Von Braun Complex, which is an administrative building for the Army at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
One of the unique things about this project and most everything we do at Redstone is that we do it on a teaming arrangement for design build. This means we work as a team member with the architect and the contractor and we all collaborate to develop and design the plans.
This is a fast-track design build project, which means they will be building as we design. It’s somewhat of a high pressure situation to get everything done. Because we’re site related, our job has to be completed first. The contractor can’t go vertical with their building until everything on the site is ready.
We started the project in early July and intend to finish our part by the fall. It will take about three months for us to finish the main portion of our effort, which involves surveying and all site related design, including grading drainage and utilities.
This project will require a Corp of Engineers permit for modifying a blue line stream. The project will also involve a large high pressure, high temperature steam line relocation.
Darren Hamrick, P.E., MSCE, LEED AP of Sain Associates will serve as project leader, and Joe Meads, P.E. and Sain Associates Owner will serve as the Principal on the project. Our entire site team will be involved in the project as well.
Sain Associates, Inc., is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, with offices in Cullman, Alabama, Pulaski, Tennessee and Mandeville, Louisiana. Sain is a site engineering, traffic/transportation engineering and planning and land surveying firm with experience in more than thirty states.
