New Employee Expands Sain’s ITS Capabilities

Posted by on Feb 5, 2013

We are proud to introduce the newest member of our Traffic and Transportation Team, Lance Lenoir. Lance has many years of experience in roadway design, but he also brings capabilities in the area of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

ITS covers a broad spectrum of activities, but basically involves the use of advanced communications technology to improve transportation infrastructure and operations.  Deployment of ITS applications has been ongoing for more than a decade.  Most drivers are familiar with ITS applications like video cameras at traffic signals, dynamic message boards with emergency notifications, and real-time traffic information delivered through navigation devices.   The goal of ITS is to help motorists be safer and better informed on the road.

Right now, ITS systems are active in Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery and the Shoals area.  Expansion to other cities is almost certain as technology improves and becomes more cost effective.

Lance has worked in the civil engineering business since 1992, and his background was in roadway design until he started working with ITS in Atlanta in 2004. He brings a lot of great experience to Sain, and we hope to give him some new experiences as well with our broad base of services in infrastructure, traffic, roadway design, surveying, GIS, and site engineering.

Originally from Clanton in Chilton County, Lance currently lives in Hoover. He will marry his childhood sweetheart this April and go from living as a bachelor for 44 years to living with three women – his wife and her two daughters.

Good luck with the new job, marriage and family, Lance! We’re so happy to have you at Sain Associates.

Sain Associates, Inc., is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, with offices in Cullman, Alabama, Pulaski, Tennessee and Mandeville, Louisiana. Sain is a site engineering, traffic/transportation engineering and planning and land surveying firm with experience in more than thirty states.
