In this two-part blog, we are excited to introduce you to two new engineers who have recently joined our firm.
Sain Associates Welcomes Luana Ozelim Broshears as Graduate Design Engineer
Sain Associates is proud to welcome Luana Ozelim Broshears as Graduate Design Engineer. In her new position within our Traffic Department, Luana will be responsible for handling traffic signal design, traffic impact analysis, and work with the team on traffic projects.
Originally from Brazil, Luana grew up and attended college there. Her father works for the Army and through this they’ve lived on numerous Army bases. This is where she discovered her love for civil engineering. “I always thought it was cool how they used transportation to create new towns, new businesses, etc. Once we lived on a base in the Amazon in the middle of nowhere, and they used pavement design and just created life around the roads because there was nothing there before. That’s why I decided to go and do civil engineering and specialize in transportation because it really caught my attention how it has the power to generate a lot of new activities around the roads.”
Upon receiving her undergraduate degree, Luana came to the United States in 2010 to attend graduate school at Auburn University, where she received her Masters and PhD degrees.
Luana told us why she desired to be a part of the Sain team, stating, “I think it’s interesting because I’ve had 10 ½ years in college between all of my degrees, so I feel like I bring a lot of the academic experience to this company. I think it will be a great experience for me to learn and work on real-world projects and also for the team to have an opinion from someone who just did research and transportation from another point of view. I also started becoming interested in working at a company where I could see the results in what I was designing and what I’m doing and trying to help the community somehow.”
The quote that motivates Luana daily is “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” ― Albert Einstein
Fun facts about Luana: She really enjoys Latin music and is a Zumba instructor. She is married and has three cats, and loves Formula One racing.
Please join us in welcoming Luana to the Sain team!
