Meet Our New Civil Engineering Project Manager and Survey Team Leader

We’re excited that in the past few weeks, two new team members have joined Sain Associates. Chris Jenkins and Roger Joiner are joining Sain with a wide variety of  past experience and doing great in the new roles so far. Learn a little more about them below.

ChrisJenkinsChris Jenkins, P.E., is a Project Manager in our Civil Engineering Department. He has 17 years of diverse project experience in site development and municipal engineering. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from The University of Alabama and is licensed to practice engineering in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

His experience has included a variety of assignments working on Corps of Engineers’ projects, commercial shopping center projects, public schools, residential projects and municipal projects.  Chris has also served in a consultant city engineer role for municipalities in Mississippi. Chris has experience in a broad range of civil engineering projects, including water and wastewater treatment and distribution systems, roadway, drainage projects and site development projects.

After working in Mississippi for five years, Chris is excited that he’s had the opportunity to move back to the Birmingham area where he is close to family and friends. Chris has been married to his wife Andrea for more than seven years and has two dogs, Amy and Marley.

RJoiner (3)Roger Joiner, P.L.S., is our new Survey Team Leader. His responsibilities include directing, coordinating and managing all land survey work for the firm. Roger has 37 years of experience in residential and commercial construction staking, stakeout and grading of roadways, performing ALTA/ASCM, topographic and boundary surveys, GPS and conventional survey methods. He also is experienced in managing field and office survey personnel, field project management of construction sites, preparing and writing legal descriptions, title and utility research, development of civil drawings using AutoCad and Carlson Software, reviewing civil drawings, and office administration.

Roger has worked on several signature projects throughout his career, including numerous bridge projects throughout the state, Ross Bridge Golf Course, Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the Hoover Met and Regions Park.

Roger is a registered professional land surveyor in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee and serves as Secretary/Treasurer for the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors.

Married for almost 37 years to Shelia, Roger has two sons, Brad who is 35 and Chuck who is 32. He and his wife don’t have any pets, but they do have a few farm animals on a hobby farm that includes chickens, pigs, a 700 pound calf and garden.
