Sain Associates is eager to participate in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk being held here in Birmingham on June 24, 2017. The walk aims to raise funds as well as awareness to help fight heart disease and stroke.
As a group, we have set a fundraising goal of $4,000 which we announced at our company breakfast on April 4th. The breakfast served as a kickoff event for our participation and fundraising for this honorable cause. Twenty-four Sain employees signed up to participate in the Heart Walk. By random drawing, they were assigned to one of four teams (one officer leading each team). Between now and June 24 the four teams will engage in some friendly competition to see who can raise the most money for the American Heart Association. We are a competitive bunch, so we expect to see a lot of activity and a bit of trash talking in the next two months.
In conjunction with the Heart Walk, Sain participated in National Walking Day on April 5th to get warmed up for the big event. The AHA set a goal of 2 million steps walked across Alabama, and we wanted to help! Sain employees were asked to use a step counter to track their steps for the day, and then log those steps in our training room. To help boost those step counts, we encouraged participants to take two 15-minute walks, one at 11:30 and one at 4:45. At the end of the day, we logged a total of 75,027 steps!
Our kickoff activities went over extremely well, and we are on our way to meeting our fundraising goal. National Walking Day sparked a friendly competition within the office, and we are continuing to monitor our step counts! We can’t wait for the big walk in June!
