We are excited to announce the acquisition of Vision Engineering & Planning, a transportation planning and engineering DBE firm with offices in Columbia, MD and Atlanta, GA.
In February of this year Sain was recruited by our friends at Cushman & Wakefield/EGS Commercial Real Estate to join their team for the Birmingham Heart Walk. Sain had participated in the Heart Walk in the past, but that was over 10 years ago. We happily said yes to the invitation, knowing it would give us an opportunity to help a worthy cause, participate in a great community event, and inspire some friendly competition among our employees.
To get our employees warmed up for the Heart Walk we first participated in the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day on April 5th. We logged our steps for one day to help raise awareness to the importance of physical activity for heart health. After warming up with National Walking Day, we started a team competition to raise funds for the Birmingham Heart Walk.
Sain had twenty-four employees volunteer to participate in the Heart Walk. They were divided into four teams, with each team named after a corporate officer who was assigned to lead: Jim’s Collaborators, Joe’s Jabbers, Vann’s Bean Counters, and Becky’s Facilitators. Through April, May and June the teams competed to see who could raise the most money. The company sweetened the pot with a $2,000 donation. Through a series of four competitive events, the teams had the opportunity to claim credit for dollars from the company contribution for their team’s total donations. Each event was worth $500.
The competitive events included:
Each team participated enthusiastically in the challenge events, and we all had a lot of fun. When the final tally was complete, Becky’s Facilitators was the winning team with credit for $3,320 in donations. Overall, Sain raised $5,475 for the American Heart Association.
On Saturday morning, June 24th, after a week with lots of rain, ten Sain employees gathered at Uptown Birmingham for the 5k Heart Walk. It was a humid morning but the rain held off as a large crowd of enthusiastic walkers showed their support for the American Heart Association. We were happy to be there too, proudly wearing our “Engineers Walking for Healthy Hearts” t-shirts, designed by Jim’s Collaborators.
